Development and Growth of Versandmanufaktur

Founding of TRENDCOM GmbH

“Optimizing business processes for medium-sized companies!” – With this goal, Peter Deutsch and Frank Hammermeister started their own business as consulting engineers. Their focus was on companies with logistics-driven operations. Drawing on their mechanical engineering degrees and 10 years of professional experience with manufacturers and service providers in the logistics sector, they brought valuable know-how to new projects.

1999: Development of the TC-InformationServer

Smaller businesses often lacked end-to-end ERP functionalities at affordable costs to manage their core processes efficiently. TRENDCOM developed the first web-based, database-driven TC-InformationServer – closing a key gap in the market for ERP systems tailored to SMEs.

E-Commerce Becomes a Core Competence

Logistics and e-commerce emerged as key challenges of the 21st century. TRENDCOM began supporting more and more clients on their journey to creating a “virtual storefront in the World Wide Web.”
The TC-InformationServer evolved into a central platform for content management, e-shops, e-procurement, and interface management along the entire supply chain.

2009: TRENDCOM Takes Over Operational Logistics Responsibility

Innovative online retail meets traditional logistics providers – many of whom are unprepared for the custom requirements and often low shipment volumes of demanding e-commerce clients.

With its own logistics center, TRENDCOM begins offering the level of service the online trade requires – a true USP that supports its clients’ business success. The proven TC-InformationServer evolves into the Warehouse and Order Management System – WOM – which optimally supports all logistics processes electronically.

2011: Birth of “pik1” and the “Versandmanufaktur”

To emphasize its core competencies, the experts at “pik1” begin focusing on consulting and developing logistics projects for mid-sized businesses, perfecting their methodology into “Process-Oriented Intralogistics Development – Compact. The Original.”

At the same time, the “Versandmanufaktur” team stands for innovative, high-end logistics services.

2012: Change in Shareholder Structure

Peter Deutsch steps down from management and transfers his shares to Frank Hammermeister. While a shared era comes to an end, the solid foundation for future business success remains intact.

2015: New Addition to the Management Team

Since July, Florian Hammermeister has been responsible for Sales and Procurement as Managing Director.

2016: A New Dimension

Our continuous growth called for a larger operational space. In mid-2016, we relocated from Bochum to Witten and moved into a former Deutsche Bahn facility with 5,500 square meters of space.

2017: Happy Birthday

TRENDCOM GmbH was founded in 1997 as a consulting company for intralogistics processes. Over the course of 20 years, our business focus shifted from pure intralogistics consulting to providing full-service fulfillment for e-commerce businesses. To reflect this transformation in our company name, we rebranded as VERSANDMANUFAKTUR GmbH.

2020: VM02 – New Site in Witten-Annen

With the opening of our new site in Witten-Annen, we created additional space to accommodate our growing number of clients. This strategic move allows us to support your continued growth and expand our operational capacity to deliver even better services.

2023: GLS Becomes Shareholder of Versandmanufaktur

As a renowned fulfillment provider, we have witnessed the explosive growth of the e-commerce sector firsthand. The increasing demand for efficient fulfillment services led us to a major strategic decision: becoming part of the respected logistics group GLS. This partnership highlights our shared commitment to optimizing shipping processes and meeting the rising expectations of the e-commerce industry.

2024: Opening of VM09 – Our New Fully Automated Site in Bochum

Innovation meets efficiency. Our state-of-the-art location VM09 is the result of intensive research, development, and planning. The objective: to process orders faster, more accurately, and more efficiently than ever before—delivering top-tier service to our clients. To achieve this, we harnessed the power of automation and built a comprehensive infrastructure that is revolutionizing our shipping operations.
